Mongolian Beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, coat the sliced flank steak with cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the coated steak to the skillet and stir-fry until browned and crispy. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and water until well combined.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the cooked steak back to the skillet and toss to coat it with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  9. Serve the Mongolian Beef over steamed rice or noodles.
